School Coaching License – Eligibility & Criteria

This Framework Is Introduced To Ensure That All School Cricket Coaches Maintain Minimum Coaching Standards, Valid Qualifications, And Professional Conduct Requirements Approved By The Coach Education Unit.

1. Basic Eligibility

  • Applicant Must Currently Work As A School Coach, Or Private Academy Coach.

2. Accepted Coaching Qualifications

  • Level 1 Coaching Certificate
  • Level 2 Coaching Certificate
  • Level 3 Coaching Certificate

3. Overseas Coaching Qualifications

  • Coaches Holding Recognized Overseas Qualifications Such As ICC, ECB, ACC, ACB Or Other Recognized Governing Bodies Are Eligible To Apply.
  • All Overseas Qualifications Must Be Verified And Approved By The Coach Education Unit Before Issuing The License.

4. Employment Verification

  • Applicants Must Submit A Current Service Confirmation Letter Issued By The School Principal.
  • The Letter Must Confirm The Applicant's Active Coaching Involvement.
  • Private Academy Coaches Should Submit Service Letter With Academy Letter Head.

5. License Validity

  • The School Coaching License Will Be Valid For A Two-Year Cycle From The Date Of Issue.

6. Assessment Requirement For License Renewal

  • All School Coaching License Applicants Applying For License Renewal Must Successfully Complete A Physical Assessment Or Online Assessment.
  • The Assessment Shall Be Conducted And Supervised By The Relevant Provincial Coach Educator.
  • The Assessment May Include Coaching Knowledge Evaluation, Practical Coaching Observation, Updated Coaching Methodologies, Player Management Standards, And Safeguarding Awareness.
  • Successful Completion Of The Assessment Will Be Mandatory For The Renewal And Continuation Of The School Coaching License.

7. Tournament Registration Requirement

  • For Official School Cricket Tournament Registrations, Each School Team Must Have Coaches Holding A Valid School Coaching Licenses.

8. Issuing Authority

  • The School Coaching License Shall Be Jointly Issued By:
  • Sri Lanka Cricket – Coach Education Unit (CEU)
  • Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA)

9. Required Documents

  • Passport-Size Photograph (Soft Copy)
  • Coaching Qualification Certificates
  • Police Clearance Report ( 6 Months )
  • Current Service Confirmation Letter
  • Completed Application Form
  • Assessment (Online Or Physical)

10. Additional Conditions

  • The Coach Education Unit Reserves The Right To Verify All Submitted Documents.
  • Incomplete Or False Applications May Be Rejected.
  • Licenses May Be Suspended Or Cancelled Due To Misconduct Or Policy Violations.

When should I renew my coaching license?

You should begin the renewal process 30 days before your license expires to ensure uninterrupted coaching authorization. You can renew up to 90 days before expiration.

What documents are required for license renewal?

Required documents include your current license certificate, coaching log with proof of hours, professional development certificates, and any training records obtained during your license validity period.

How long does the renewal approval process take?

The renewal approval typically takes 5-7 business days after we receive your complete documentation and payment. You'll receive email updates on the status of your renewal application.

Can I renew my license if it has already expired?

If your license expired less than 6 months ago, you can still renew with a late renewal fee. If it expired more than 6 months ago, you'll need to apply for certification again as a new candidate.

How will I know if my license renewal is approved?

You'll receive email notification once your renewal is approved, and your updated license certificate will be available in your SLC LMS account dashboard for download.
