‘I will decide what to do if and when told to go’ – Hathurusinghe
The question of the future of Sri Lanka’s Head Coach, Chandika Hathurusinghe surfaced at yesterday’s press conference on the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh ODI series with Hathurusinghe expressing surprise that he was to be replaced.
“It is news to me. I am just hearing of such a thing. All I can say is that I will have to wait and see and decide what to do,” said Hathurusinghe to questions by journalists.
Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary, Mohan de Silva, responding to questions, said that it was not a decision by SLC to replace Hathurusinghe.
“The Sports Minister announced to us about changing the coaches which prerogative the minister has. But this is a very sensitive issue. Tomorrow we will be having our exco-meeting and we will decide on it. It is an unfortunate situation. Sri Lanka has a bad reputation of changing coaches from time to time. Of course, we can’t go against the minister’s decision.”
