Colombo beat Dambulla by 61 runs in the Sri Lanka Cricket Under-19 50-Over Provincial Tournament to take the championship title at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium yesterday.
Colombo’s win was set up by skipper Kamil Mishara who scored 120 off 114 balls inclusive of 10 boundaries and 6 sixes and Ahan Wickramasinghe who made 127 off 116 balls containing 10 boundaries and a six.
The duo were associated in a 160-run alliance for the second wicket. Batting first, Colombo posted an imposing 303 for 6 wickets in 50 overs. For Dambulla, Ashed Daniel claimed 2 wickets for 73 runs.
Dambulla were dismissed for 242 runs in 47.5 overs with Dilmin Rathnayake shining with the ball for Colombo with fine figures of 4 for 45.
Dambulla were reeling on 5 for 102 before Lakshan Gamage revived the innings making 63 off 50 balls inclusive of 5 boundaries and 222 sixes. But his effort could not stave off defeat.
