SLC U19 50-Over Provincial Tournament

The Sri Lanka Cricket Under-19 50-Over Provincial Tournament kicked off yesterday with Colombo beating Dambulla by 147 runs at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium and Kandy defeating Galle by 33 runs at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, Colombo amassed 283 for 8 wickets in 50 overs with Ashan Wickramasinghe top scoring with 78 off 73 balls inclusive of 8 boundaries. Johanne de Silva 49 and Mohamed Shamaz 40 beefed up the total.

Wicket takers for Dambulla were Yasiri Rodrigo 2 for 39 and Sudeera Thilakaratne 2 for 47.

Dambulla were bowled out for a paltry 136 in only 36.3 overs with Praveen Nimesh de Silva reaping fine figures of 4 for 30 in 6.3 overs.

Meanwhile, Kandy posted 252 in 47 overs with Kavindu Wickramasinghe scoring 97 off 98 balls inclusive of 15 boundaries. He was associated in a fifth wicket alliance of 110 runs with Avishka Tharindu who made 74 off 71 balls with 7 boundaries and a six. Sandun Mendis took 4 for 57 and Anshi de Silva 3 for 32 for Galle.

Galle were dismissed for 219 in 44.5 overs.
