Sri Lanka Emerging Team 190 for 6 on Bandara’s unbeaten 57

Sri Lanka Cricket

The Sri Lanka Emerging Team was on 190 for 6 wickets in reply to the Bangladesh Emerging Team’s first innings total of 360 all out at stumps on the third day of the first unofficial Test match at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, Khulna yesterday.

The overnight pair of Kelum Bandara and P. Maduwantha went on to post an invaluable 82 runs for the fifth wicket. Bandara remained unbeaten on a painstaking 57 off 208 balls and consuming 181 minutes with 3 boundaries. Ramesh Mendis chipped in with 18.

The Sri Lankans face a daunting task of clearing a further 170-run deficit with four wickets remaining and their hopes will mainly revolve around Bandara to front that hurdle. With two more days remaining Charith Asalanka’s charges will need to produce a sizable display if they are to stave off defeat.

Bangladesh’s strong position in the Test match has been due to a superb captain’s knock of 133 and off spinner Nayeem Hasan claiming 4 for 64 though he went for 33 runs yesterday without a wicket.
