Pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain ran through the Sri Lanka batting line up with figures of 6 for 19 in Pakistan’s 90-run win in the third match of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2019 played at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium at Cox’s Bazaar in Bangladesh on Saturday.

It was reining champions Sri Lanka’s second successive defeat and Pakistan’s second straight win in the tournament. Batting first, Pakistan Emerging Team was all out for 183 in 49.5 overs with Ahmad Butt top scoring with 44 off 45 balls inclusive of 3 boundaries and 3 sixes with other main contributors being Rohali Nazir 37 off 47 containing 2 boundaries and Khushdil Shah 32 off 47 with 2 boundaries and sixes apiece. The main wicket taker for Sri Lanka was pace bowler Asitha Fernando with 3 for 28.

Sri Lanka’s run chase suffered a severe setback against the concentrated Pakistani pace attack with wickets falling at regular intervals. With the total on 5 for 89 in 28 overs, Sri Lanka lost the last 5 wickets for 4 runs. Top scorer for Sri Lanka was opening batsman Pathum Nissanka with 34 off 56 balls inclusive of 4 boundaries with the next best 22 from Hasitha Boyagoda off 42 with 3 boundaries and Kamindu Mendis 19.

Player of the Match was Mohammad Hasnain.
