BRC force a draw on Dilshan de Zoysa’s unbeaten 105
At the CCC Grounds, BRC held the strong Chilaw Marians to a draw. After being shot out for 87 in the first innings, BRC rallied to stall the Marians, thanks to a gallant unbeaten 105 off 157 balls by Dilshan de Soysa filled with 12 boundaries and 4 sixes. Chilaw Marians who made just 195 in the first innings, came good in the second innings declaring on 385 for 8 on a top score of 150 not out off 243 balls by Kavindu Mendis who struck 13 boundaries and 3 sixes. Kasun Vidura Adikari measured in with 87 off 114 with 8 fours and a six. BRC was set an improbable 494 to win in 80 overs.
Chandimal 129, Dilshan n.o. 116 save Army
The NCC versus Sri Lanka Army encounter ended in a draw with former Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal getting into top gear for the Army with a timely 129 off 154 balls inclusive of 15 boundaries and opening batsman Withanage Thulina Dilshan scoring an unbeaten 116 off 188 balls containing 12 boundaries and 2 sixes. Having trailed NCC by 148 runs, the Army made 255 for 3 off 60 overs. Earlier, NCC extended their overnight score of 323 for 6 to 417 for 7 declared with former Sri Lanka opener Mahela Udawatte tuning up with a brisk 57-ball 77 packed with 7 hits to the ropes and 3 sixes.
Saracens stall Colts
Meanwhile, Colts CC must be ruing that they left Saracens SC off the hook having being in total control of the match from the opening day having walloped 408 and dismissed the opposition for 182. Following on Saracens were 106 for 3 at the close which must have left the Colts camp scratching their backs whether the declaration came too late for their bowlers to dismiss the opposition twice.
