SLC MAJOR CLUB U23 50-OVER TOURNAMENT

On a day that marked several upset wins, Tamil Union C&AC upstaged the more fancied CCC by 3 wickets on the D/L at the P. Saravanamuththu Stadium in a high scoring affair. Replying to CCC’s 214, Tamil Union reached the revised target of 184 in 40.1 overs. Leading the run chase was Navod Paranavitana with another fine knock of 58.

Meanwhile, Lankan CC staged a major upset comprehensively defeating the more fancied Chilaw Marians by 117 runs on the third day matches of the SLC Major Club Under-23 50-Over Tournament on Sunday. Lankan CC made 197 and shot out the Marians for 80 runs.

NUVANIDU FERNANDO 108

SSC batsman Nuvanidu Fernando struck a run a ball 108 inclusive of 5 boundaries and 3 sixes as SSC crushed Galle CC by 232 runs on the D/L on their home grounds on a day all matches were marred by rain. SSC  made 298 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs and bundled out Galle CC for 66 which they had to achieve I 25.4 overs under the modified D/L system.

SANKAPURNA 5 WKTS.

Starring with the ball in claiming the first 5-wicket haul in the tournament was Sankapurna of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority against Moors SC at Moors Grounds.. However, Moors prevailed to pull off by 94 runs. Moors ran up 266 for 8 in 50 overs on a top score of 90 by Mohamed Shamas and dismissed Ports Authority for 172 in 47.1 overs.
