Jaffna Stallions named winner of prestigious Silk Award at annual virtual 6th Silk Sports Awards

Jaffna Stallions on the way to pocketing the prestigious inaugural Lanka Premier League title, did also touch gold in having won a Silk award at the 6th Silk Sports Awards 2020. This was announced by Thilan Rangana, Chairman of Sports Info, Sri Lanka’s premier entity that promotes sports in the country in a big way by recognising and honouring outstanding individual and team performances.  It capped a stellar round off by the Jaffna Stallions skippered by all-rounder Thisara Perera.

The Northern peninsula team won the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) organised historic Lanka Premier League beating  Galle Gladiators by 53 runs in the final recently.  

Jaffna Stallions pocketed championship prize money of Rs.18, 500,000 (18.5 Million Rupees) for their effort.

The result was a shot in the arm in Sri Lanka Cricket’s initiative in promoting the game in the once war torn Northern peninsula.
