SLC T20 TOURNAMENT
SSC and Army SC will meet in the final of the SLC T20 Cricket Tournament following their semi-final wins against CCC by 32 runs and 9 wickets respectively at the NCC Grounds in Maitland Place yesterday.
SSC produced a fine all-round performance to beat CCC by 32 runs while Army CC recorded even a more convincing nine-wicket victory over the giant killers Kurunegala YCC.
SSC totaled 159 for 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs spearheaded by opener Avishka Fernando top scoring with 65 and shot out CCC for 113 in 18.3 overs with Prabath Jayasuriya leading the way with figures of 3 for 16 and Jeffrey Vandersay 2 for 17, Himesh Ramanayake 2 for 23 and Tharindu Ratnayake 2 for 29.
However, the SSC bowlers defended that score anowled out their opponents for 127 runs in the last over with sharing the wickets.
Meanwhile, Army SC had it easy over the high riding Kurunegala YCC who could muster only 114 for 6 in their 20 overs with Janith Silva taking 3 for 15. Army SC reached the victory target for the loss of 1 wicket off 11.4 overs with overtook that score easily with Ashan Randika andf Seekkuge Prasanna unbeaten on 54 and 50 respectively.
