Kurunagala YCC upset Chilaw Marians, CCC down Galle CC, NCC beat Bloomfield

Kurunagala YCC upset favourites Chilaw Marians Cricket Club by 16 runs in a Group C match of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) T20 Tournament at Colts grounds yesterday. Kurunagala YCC made 151 for 8 off 20 overs and bowled out Chilaw Marians for 135 in 19.2 overs.

Dhanushka Dharmasiri set the tone for Kurunagala YCC top scoring with 53 off 44e balls followed by Gayan Maheeshan’s 42 off just 21 balls.  The top wicket taker for the winners was Nimasara Atharagalla who took 4 for 26 backed by Lahiru Jayartne who picked 2 for 24.

Meanwhile, Colombo Cricket Club defeated Galle CC by 8 wickets with 77 balls to spare in a Group A match at SSC grounds. Having dismissed Galle CC for 75 off 16.1 overs, CC reached home making 79 for 2 in only 7.1 overs anchored by Minod Bhanuka who made an unbeaten 29 and Ron Chandraguptha 24.

Nugegoda Sports Welfare Club beat Badureliya Sports Club by 25 runs in a Group A match at the SSC grounds. Put into bat, Nugegoda made 164 for 8 off 20 overs and dismissed Badureliya for 139 in 18.2 overs.

Top scorer for Nugegoda SC was Muditha Lakshan with 73 off 42 balls hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes while Pramud Hettiwatte made 43 off 31 inclusive of 4 boundaries and a six.

The wrecker with the ball for Nugegoda SWC was Pramud Hettiwatte who claimed 4 wickets for 13 to cap a superb all-round performance.

Colts downed Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC by 8 wickets in a Group B match at CCC grounds. Colts breezed to 129 for 2 wickets off 15.5 overs on a 36-ball unbeaten 62 by Priyamal Perera studded with 4 sixes and 3 fours having shot out the SL Ports Authority CC for 128 in 19.5 overs. Sangeeth Cooray made 36 off 41 with 3 boundaries.

NCC beat Bloomfield C&AC by 49 runs in a Group B match at CCC grounds.

Batting first NCC totaled 155 for 7 on Hasitha Boyagoda’s run a ball 38 inclusive of 3 boundaries and an unbeaten 29 by kamil Mishara off 15 balls hitting 3 boundaries and a six. Bloomfield flopped to 106 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs with Chamika Gunasekara taking 3 for 4 and Sahan Arachchige 2 for 22.
