Underdogs Lankan CC crowned themselves as the worthy champions striking gold at the expense of favourites SSC was a truly fairytale type of scripting to putting the icing on the cake in the final of the SLC Under-23 Major Youth Cricket Tournament at the SSC Grounds during the week-end

Having knocked out Colts CC in the semi-final, the charged up Lankan CC outfit continued their giant killing run thumping a formidable 223 in 49.2 overs after being put into bat, and bowling out the strong SSC for 164 in 44.3 overs. That the Lankans touched gold bringing down their opponents in their own backyard was indeed the bottom line of this great effort.  

Of course, the day belonged to Kasun Abeyratne who hogged the spotlight with a typical Player of the Match composed half century (51) in building the perfect launching pad for his side to collar their opponents.

Taking over from where Abeyratne left were Dunith Wellalage who led the way with 3 wickets for 29 bcked by Sawan Kankanamge 2 for 9, Yasiru Rodrigo 2 for 23 and SAandun Sathsara 2 for 29.

Sammu Ashan was stand out for SSC with a pleasing all-round performance claiming 3 for 31 and compiling a half century (50), but lacked the desired support to pull it for SSC.
