Ragama CC thrash Army SC by 8 wkts. on Ishan Jayaratne’s 5/31; NCC down Badureliya SC by 18 as Upul Tharanga (136) comes to the show

Ragama CC thrashed  Army SC by 8 wickets on a 5 for 31 highlight by skipper Ishan Jayaratne while NCC defeated Badureliya SC by 18 runs anchored by a superb 136 by Upul Tharanga in the semi-final play offs of the SLC Major Club Limited Over Cricket Tournament at the NCC grounds and CCC grounds respectively yesterday.

Army CC, taking first lease of the wicket were dismissed for 178 with Ragama CC demonstrated its all-round fire power with consummate ease in overhauling Army SCs total of 178 finishing on 179 for 2 in just 39.2 overs powered by Saminda Fernando’s 99.

At Maitland Crescent, the former Sri Lanka opener Upul Tharanga proved to be the center piece definition in NCC prevailing over a game Badureliya SC in a high scoring encounter. Tharanga came to the show with a masterly array of stroke-play in setting the tone in a NCC total of 197 for 7 off 50 overs to which Badureliya SC responded valiantly totaling 274 in 49.3 overs with Tillakaratne Sampath top scoring with 98.
