DHANANJAYA LAKSHAN | At 22 years, Ex-U19 batting all-rounder in the reckoning

In the hellish challenge for places in a predictable hellish challenge of the two phased June-July 3-match T20s and 3-match ODI against a highly rampant England in the home of cricket, on the new selector accentuation on youth to the fore, certainly former U-19 batting all-round prodigy 22-year old Dhananjaya Lakshan will press stakes for the big call on the strength of an impressive U-19 international career record.

Hailing from Galle where he cut his teeth in the game at Richmond College, Galle, Lakshan, a left-hander,  has scored 283 runs for Sri Lanka U19 in 8 outings with an unbeaten century 101 and a fifty, one not out, and averaging 40.42 hitting 30 boundaries and 3 sixes in a strike rate of 75.06.

At first class level, representing Colts CC, Lakshan’s recent performances are of a highest of 77 versus Saracens, 70 Vs. Kurunegala Y, 69 Vs. Sebastianites CAC, 63 Vs. Bloomfield and 41 Vs. Moors. .

The right-arm medium pacer took 2 wickets for 41 Vs Police SC and 2 for 38 Vs. Moors SC in recent outings.
