Dasun Shanaka walks the walk as astute captain

Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lanka T20 captain further raised his stocks as an astute captain by leading SLC Greys to the championship title of the Sri Lanka Cricket Invitational T20 League title on Tuesday.

Not only did the 29-year-old Shanaka prove his mettle as a tactical captain in making the right moves especially in rotating his bowlers, but also led from the front walking the walk with the bat with a total run aggregate of 258 runs from six innings with a strike rate of 184.

The former product of St. Peter’s College, Negombo and Maris Stella College, Negombo, and SSC player has certainly come a long way since breaking into top flight cricket on August 1, 2015 May 19, 2016 in a T20 against Pakistan.

Moreover, Shanaka came to the limelight in leading Sri Lanka out of the dark on two occasions first defeating Pakistan in a comprehensive 3-nil clean sweep in their own backyard in a T20 series in 2019 and the recent 2-1 home series T20 defeat of Indial.
