Sri Lanka made 113 for one wicket on a rain hit first day of the second test versus the West Indies with Pathuim Nissanka unbeaten on 61 and skipper Dimuth Karunaratne having made 42 in an opening partnership of 103 runs having elected to bat on winning the toss with play having started after lunch at the Galle International Stadium on Monday.
It was Nissanka’s third half century in test cricket that came off 74 balls inclusive of 4 sixes and a six while Karunaratne played a more sedate innings palming the strike to his more aggressive opening partner. In what was yet another solid three figure opening partnership in the wake of their first test effort, Karunaratne was caught and bowled by Roston Chase. Oshada Fernando was unbeaten on 2.
