West Indies frustrate Lankan bowlers to recover to 224/9 on rain hit third day

The West Indies fought back to end the third day on 224 for 9 as Sri Lanka lost the iron grip with the visitors adding 111 runs to salvaging from a tottering their overnight 113 for 6 162 behind with rain washing out the final session at the Galle International Stadium on Tuesday.

The West Indies rearguard resistance came in the form of  the seventh wicket pair of Jason Holder (36) and Kyle Mayers (45) taking the attack to the home side. They added an invaluable 63 runs in that repair work. No.10 Rahkeem Cornwall chipped in with 39 in further frustrating the Lankan bowlers adding 49 runs with Holder for the eighth wicket.

Praveen Jayawickrama had economical figures of 3 for 38 for the host team.
