India raced to a 9-wicket triumph over Sri Lanka in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2021 final at the Dubai Cricket Stadium today.
In a rain reduced 38-Over final, set 102 to win on the revised D/L equation, India romped to 104 for 1 wicket in 21.3 overs after Sri Lanka had made 106 for 9 in 38 overs having won the toss and batted first. India’s run charge was led by Angkrish Raghuvanshi who made an unbeaten 56 and Shaik Rasheed an unbeaten 31.
The inability of Sri Lanka’s top order batsmen to come up with substantial scores against a tight Indian attack put paid to their cup hopes. The highest one could get was Yasiru Rodrigo’s unbeaten 19 with Vicky Ostwal claiming 3 for 11 and Kaushal Tambe 2 for 23. Raveen de Silva 15 and 14 apiece by Matheesha Pathirana and Sadeesha Rajapakse were the other Lankan batsmen to reach double figures.
