Colombo beat Kandy by 6 wkts; Galle edge Dambulla by 3 wkts.

Colombo defeated Kandy by 6 wickets in a high scoring game with Nipun Dhananjaya leading the victory charge with an unbeaten 70 off 79 balls inclusive of 4 boundaries and a six, Nawinidu Fernando 67 and Dimuth Karunaratne 59 at the SSC yesterday in the Sri Lanka Cricket National League 50 Over Tournament. Colombo ran up 274 for 4 in 48.1 overs chasing down Kandy’s 271 all out in 50 overs. Colombo’s other main contributors were Sidhara Gimhan 37 and Ashen Bandara 33 not out. Lasith Embuldeniya took 2 for 48 for Kandy.

Kandy’s innings revolved around a solid 86 by Sahan Arachchige followed by Pulina Tharanga 36 and Lasith Croospulle 33. For Colombo, Lahiru Madushanka took 4 for 54, Kalana Perera 3 for 40 and Tharindu Ratnayake 2 for 45.

Meanwhile, in another tournament match, Galle got the better of Dambulla by 3 wickets at the SSC Grounds. Galle made 166 for 7 in 34.2 overs in reply to Dambulla’s 165 all out in 49.3 overs.

Ashen Randika top scored for Galle with 49 while Muditha Lakshan and Dhananjaya Lakshan were unbeaten on 37 and 32 respectively. Lahiru Samarakoon claimed 3 for 37 for Dambulla.

Dambulla’s innings was propped up by Dawan Ratnayake who made 44 and Lakshan Sandakan 34. Galle’s wicket takers were Heshan Hettiarachchi 3 for 31, Dhananjaya Lakshan 3 for 40 and Muditha Lakshan 2 for 23 runs.
