Dhananjaya de Silva 69 and 3 wkts. in Jaffna’s 176-run win over Dambulla, Priyamal Perera 98 as Galle beat Colombo by 3 wickets

SLC NATIONAL LEAGUE TOURNEY

Sri Lanka Cricket’s National League 50-Over Tournament took off with Jaffna trouncing Dambulla by a massive 176 runs at the P. Saravanamuththu Stadium while Galle dèfeated Colombo by 3 wickets at the SSC Grounds.

The four cornered tournament which will largely serve as a prelude for selections for the upcoming tour of Australia, saw Jaffna skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, who lost his one-day place and vice captaincy, respond with a compelling all-round performance skippering Jaffna. He struck a top score of 69 in a total of 255 off 47.1 overs and took 3 wickets for 5 runs as Dambulla was bundled out for 79 runs in 25.5 overs with Dilum Sudeera and Jeffrey Vandersay also claiming 2 for 10 and 2 for 12 respectively. Ashan Priyanjan top scored for Dambulla with 32.

Meanwhile, Priyamal Perera struck an unbeaten 98 as Galle scored 215 for 7 off 42.4 overs in overhauling Colombo’s 213 in 47.3 overs.
