U19 WORLD CUP: Sri Lanka thrash Windies by 3 wkts. in unbeaten run to top Group D

Sri Lanka defèated the West Indies by 3 wickets at St. Kitts to round off their Under-19 World Cup Group D matches on a facile unbeaten run to top the group having also thrashed Australia and Scotland. Sri Lanka ran up 251 for 7 wickets in reply to the West Indies 250 for 9 in 50 overs after the host country had been put into bat.

The Lankan triumph was fronted by Sadeesha Rajapaksa who struck a 115-ball 76 inclusive of 5 boundaries. He was associated in a 54-run second wicket partnership with Shevon Daniel who struck a run a ball 34 slamming 5 boundaries and a six, and 78 for the fourth wicket with Wanidu Somaratne who was unbeaten on a 27-ball 28 hitting 3 boundaries. Angelo Bandara too was right up there hammering 40 off 52 containing 2 fours and a six while skipper Dunith Wellalage made 15 and Raveen de Silva 13.

Top scorer for the West Indies was Kevin Wickham with 56 followed by Jordan Johnson 47, Teddy Bishop and Rivaldo Clarke 45 apiece. Dunith Wellalage took 3 for 39, Matheesha Pathirana 2 for 67 and Traveen Mathew 1 for 38.
