Asitha Fernando 4/39, Ashen Daniel 5/75 as Kandy take overall lead of 364 over Dambulla

Kandy were in a strong position against Dambulla having taken an overall lead of 364 runs with seven second innings wickets intact at stumps on the third day of their Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League Tournament match played at the Pallekelle International Stadium on Saturday. Kandy breezed to 134 for 3 wickets in their second innings having made short shrift of Dambulla who were dismissed for 216 in reply to their first innings total of 446.

Kandy’s pace-spin combination of Asitha Fernando and Ashen Daniel shared 9 wickets between themselves with Asitha taking 4 for 39 and Ashen 5 for 75. Dambulla’s overnight fourth-wicket pair of skipper Minod Bhanuka and Ashan Priyanjan added 125 runs, but the rest fell apart. Priyanjan made 73 and Bhanuka 71.
