Dimuth Karunaratne n.o. 125, Roshen Silva n.o. 55 as Colombo stun Galle by 8 wkts.

Colombo came back from trailing Galle by 117 runs on the first innings in a remarkable upstage act by an emphatic 8-wicket triumph on a brilliant unbeaten 125 by Dimuth Karunaratne well supported by Roshen Silva who made a compelling unbeaten 55 in a finish by the second day to the four-day SLC National Super League fixture at the ,Galle International Stadium on Friday.

The Karunaratne-Silva flourish in a 106-run unfinished third wicket partnership off 133 balls was the perfect come back scripting after Colombo had folded up for 152 from a shaky overnight 110 for 6.

But Colombo swiftly hit back in bundling out Galle for 103 in the second essay on a brilliant 5 for 41 by Prabath Jayasuriya who rounded off with a remarkable match haul of 11 for 152. He was well supported by Lakshitha Munasinghe who took 3 for 22. and Nalin Priyadharshana 2 for 39.

Roshen Silva’s 77:ball knock spanning 7 hits to the ropes personified the staying resolve to closing on the 200-plus target.
