Galle score 269 and reduce Colombo to 110/6

Galle reduced Colombo to 110 for 6 wickets after having totalled 269 on the opening day of the ninth fixture of the Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League Tournament at the Galle International Stadium on Wednesday.

Galle was off to a rousing start with the inform openers Sangeeth Cooray and Pabasara Waduge putting on 82 in the wake of their record 208-run partnership in routing Jaffna last week. Cooray struck 51 off 61 balls inclusive of 8 fours and Waduge 42 off 39 with 4 fours in a 119-ball stand.

Priyamal Perera stepped in with a superb consolidating 51-ball 61 filled with 7 boundaries followed by Kavishka Anjula 33, Dhananjaya Lakshan 24, Chanaka Ruwansiri 19, Ashan Dumindu 18 and Dinesh Chandimal 17. Colombo’s wicket takers were Prabath Jayasuriya 6 for 111 and Ashen Bandara 2 for 4.

Colombo in their turn were up against the wily spin of Akila Dananjaya who took 3 for 28 in putting Galle in control. He was well backed by Chanaka Ruwansiri who took 2 for 14 as Colombo trailed by 159 runs with just four wickets intact. Ashen Bandara made 35, Nipun Dhananjaya 25 and Pramod Madushanka 17.
