Chasing 447 to win, Sri Lanka was on 28 for the loss of one wicket, that of Lahiru Thirimanne after India declared the second innings on 303 for 9 at the close of play on the second day of the second and final test match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

India’s batsmen capitalised on a 143-run first innings lead playing freely having dismissed Sri Lanka for 109 with overnight batsman Niroshan Dickwella making 21 adding just 8.

Leading the Indian run charge once again was Shreyas Iyer who top scored with 67 in the wake of his first innings score of 92 with Rishabh Pant notching 50. Upfront, skipper Rohit Sharma got into nick with a positive 46 while co-opener Mayank Agrwal made 22. Other contributors were Hanuma Vihari 35 and Ravindra Jadeja 22. The pick of the Lankan bowlers was Praveen Jayawickrema who claimed 4 for 78 followed by Lasith Embuldeniya 3 for 87.
