Kandy’s Lahiru Udara Igalagamage was placed third in the best batsmen standings of the recently concluded Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League 4-day Tournament. He htallied a run aggregate of 464 in 11 innings from 6 matches and had a highest of 92. He averaged 46.40 retaining a strike rate of 69.66.
The 28-year old right-hander opening batsman’s contribution came into play in Kandy emerging tournament champions. He came to the fore in a 126-ball innings hitting 16 boundaries in his 92 against Galle in that victory thrust. He figured in a 169-run first wicket partnership with Lasith Croospulle who made 93 in that fixture.
A product of St. John’s College, Nugegoda, the Colombo Cricket Club player has acquitted himself quite handsomely in first class domestic cricket scoring 3916 runs in 60 matches with a highest of an unbeaten 290 scoring 6 centuries and 21 half centuries with an average of 38.01.
