Skipper Nipun Dananjaya played a captain’s knock of 150 to guide the Sri Lanka Development Squad to 372 for 9 wickets declared against Surrey on the second day of their four-day match at Guildford, London yesterday. Surrey had responded with an emphatic 196 for no loss with Ryan Patel stroking 109 and Ben Geddes on 75.
Dananjaya was on song leading by example as he took his innings into the second day in a remarkable 242-ball knock that contained 11 boundaries. He was well supported by Dinuth Wellalage who made 46. Other contributors were Yasiru Rodrigo 17 and Manelka de Silva 16.
Meanwhile, Surrey’s openers found no terrors in the Lankan attack with Ryan speeding to the three figure mark striking 10 boundaries and 4 sixes while Geddes hit 9 boundaries and a six.
