Skipper Nipun Dananjaya 81 n.o. in SL Development Squad’s 230/6 vs. Surrey

Skipper Nipun Dananjaya struck a timely unbeaten 81 off 126 balls to lift the Sri Lanka Development Squad to 230 for six wickets against Surrey at the close of play on the opening day of their four-day match on tour of England at Woodbridge Road, Guildford.

Having come in with the score for 115 at the fall of Nuwanidu Fernando’s wicket, Dananjaya hit 4 boundaries and was associated in a fruitful 82-run partnership with Avishka Tharindu who made a fine 48 off 73 balls containing 6 boundaries. Fernando made 16.

Upfront, opening batsman Lasith Croospulle continued his good form on tour in the wake of his century against Kent a fortnight ago stroking 32 off 30 smacking 4 boundaries and a six.

Brety Hutton was the pick of the Surrey bowlers taking 3for 37 followed by Tom Lawe4s 2 for 10 and Amar Virdi 23/45).
