Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne led the way with a resolute unbeaten 70 off 127 balls as Sri Lanka made a bold reply of 143 for 2 wickets after it’s pace duo of Kasun Rajitha and Asitha Fernando ran through the Bangladesh innings with the hosts adding just 94 to the overnight 275 for 5. Rajitha finished with brilliant figures of 5 for 64 while Fernando took 4 for 93.
Bangladesh’s overnight century makers were checked with the sixth-wicket partnership broken early on when Das fell for 141 adding just six to his overnight 135. Mushiqur Rahim, who was on 115, however, carried his bat to remain unbeaten on a solid 175.
The Rahim-Das partnership realised 272. Sri Lanka got off to a flying start with Karunaratne and Oshada Fernando posting 95 for the first wicket. Fernando made 57 off 91 hitting 8 boundaries and a six while Karunaratne ended the day hitting 7 boundaries in his unbeaten 127-ball knock and looking in fine nick to approaching his 13th test ton on the third day at Maipur, Dhaka.
