Sri Lanka batters perform exceptionally 407 in reply to England’s 387; England 2nd innings 199/3

Sri Lanka’s U19 batters performed admirably totalling 407 in reply to England’s first innings 387 on the third day of the first Youth Test match at Chelmsford yesterday. England was on 199 for 3 wickets in the second innings with Ross Whitfield scoring 110 in the wake of his 86 in the first innings.

Sri Lanka added a further 106 to the overnight 301 with skipper Raveen de Silva converting his overnight score of 19 to a quick fire 62 off 35 balls packed with 7 boundaries. Asitha Wanninayake fell without adding to his overnight 132. The Lankan total was propped up by Dinuja Ranpul who made 42 off 85 slamming 2 sixes and 4 boundaries. Pawan Pathiraja was equal to the task stringing 32 off 95 hitting 5 boundaries.
