1ST YOUTH TEST
Sri Lanka was on 25 for the loss of 1 wicket in reply to England’s mammoth total of 387 on the opening day of the first Under-19 Youth Test at Chelmsford yesterday. England’s total was propped up by George Bell who scored 107 off 96 balls inclusive of 10 boundaries, and Ross Whitfield who made 86 off 106 hitting 8 boundaries and a six. The duo shared in a third wicket partnership of 185 runs.
Sri Lanka’s Duvindu Ranatunga took 4 wickets for 100 while Wanuja Sahan took 2 for 56 and Dulaj Samuditha 2 for 105. Sri Lanka lost the wicket of Sadisha Rajapaksa for 11 on the stroke of stumps. Asitha Wanninayale was unbeaten on 13 off 23 having hit 3 boundaries.
