Australia beat Sri Lanka by 108 runs in Women’s U19 World Cup match

Australia pulled off a 108-run win over Sri Lanka in a Group A match of the Women’s Under-19 World Cup 2023 played at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni, South Africa today. Batting first the Australian lasses ran up 159 for 5 wickets and dismissed the Lankan lasses for just 51 runs with Lucy Hamilton taking 2 wickets for no runs off a solitary over while Maggie Clark took 2 for 8 operating with the new ball in making inroads into the Lankan batting. Australia’s innings did not produce any big scorers with Ella Hayward top scoring with 36. Rismi Sanjana took 2 for 30 for the Lankans. Only Sri Lanka’s opening batter Nethmi Senarathna 11,reached double figures with the last three wickets falling for ducks.,Ella Hayward was the Player of the Match.

Australia is placed second in Group A with 4 points from 3 matches having lost to Bangladesh who lead the group with 6 points from three straight wins. Sri Lanka is third with 2 points from 3 matches having beaten the US but lost the next two to Bangladesh and Australia in that order.
