Colombo-Jaffna game ends in tame draw

The Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League 2023 match between Colombo and Jaffna ended in a tame draw at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Colombo, totalled 289 adding a further 79 to the overnight 210 for 6 when play resumed on the fourth and final day in reply to Jaffna’s 199. Jaffna had scored 229 for 8 in the second innings when stumps were drawn. Colombo’s Manoj Sarathchandra went on to complete a fine half century converting his overnight score of 21 to 57 while his overnight partner Prabath Jayasuriya fell 6 short of a deserving half century. The main wicket takers for Jaffna were Lahiru Madushanka 3 for 32 and Kavindu Pathiratne 3 for 48.

Meanwhile, Jaffna’s 200-plus total revolved around Avishka Tharindu’s half century exactly 50 off 80 containing 5 boundaries, and Lahiru Madushanka 43 off 68 inclusive of 4 boundaries. Colombo’s pace duo of Nuwan Pradeep and Kasun Rajitha claimed 3 for 32 and 2 for 26. Tharindu Ratnayake took 2 for 78.
