Twenty-two year old Mohammad Haris came to the show yesterday in B Love Kandy’s fourth LPL win as the ruight-hander, in only his second game, reeled Player of the Match stuff 81 off 51 powered by 10 boundaries and 2w over the top in handing Jaffna Kings their fourth loss in the 15th day-night fixture at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium yesterday. The game reached a climax as Kandy won by 8 runs with Jaffna Kings making a valiant late charge on the shoulders of veteran Pakistani Shoaib Malik who battled his way unbeaten on 57 off 37 with 4 boundaries and a six and skipper Thisara Perera 36 off 22.
But the game looked never in doubt Kandy’s way after veteran former Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews touched gold yesterday with the ball at long last in his battle with injury that had put the skids on his bowling career as the all-rounder claimed 3 wickets for 10 runs including the wickets of openers Nishan Madushka for 8, Rahmanullah Gurbaz for 1 and Charith Asalanka for 2 in decimating Jaffna Kings early on as B Love Kandy won a cliff hanger by 8 runs.
