Sri Lanka Air Force defeated Sri Lanka Police by 18 runs in a low scoring affair in Sunday’s Sri Lanka Cricket Major Clubs 50-Over Tournament Group A match played at the Police Park Grounds, Colombo.
Put into bat, Air Force SC was dismissed for 106 in 33.3 overs, but hit back bundling out their opponents for 88 in 22.3 overs with strike bowler Lasanda Rukmal claiming 6 wickets for 32 runs in 8 overs. Movin Subasinghe took 2 for 24.
Roscoe Thattil top scored for the Airmen with 29 off 59 balls. Dulanjana Mendis was unbeaten on 19 off 40 with a solitary boundary while opening batsman Chamara Fernando made a brisk 15 off 16 balls inclusive of 3 boundaries and Praboda Srimal 13 off 37.
Police SC’s Dileepa Jayalath took 3 wickets for 21 and Heshan Dhanushka 2 for 1.
Their batting revolved around opener Chathuranga Jayathilake’s 30 off 18 balls with 5 boundaries and a six, but Lasanda Rukmal got into the wicket taking act with only two others – Vishad Randika 23 off 52 with 3 boundaries and Supun Madushanka 14 with 3 boundaries reaching double figures.
