World Cup discard Avishka Fernando hogged 6the limelight striking a superb century in Sinhalese Sports Club’s second win in defeating NCC by 14 runs on the revised D/L equation against NCC on his home ground in the Sri Lanka Cricket 50-Over Major Clubs Tournament during the weekend.
A significant feature was NCC’s Sri Lanka cap opening batsman Pathum Nissanka in turn mounting three figures in a lost cause.
Nissanka hit 135 but could not stave off defeat with NCC mustering only 248 for 8 wickets off 35 overs in the rain affected game.
Former Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka struck an unbeaten 53 for his third half century while Charith Asalanka and Nipun Dhananjaya also mounted half centuries in driving home SSCs domination.
