Sri Lanka’s inability to post a challenging target by a top order let down cost them the decisive third ODI which Bangladesh won with ease by 4 wickets with as much as 58 balls to spare despite virtual newcomer in comparison to much more senior batsmen in young Janith Liyanage’ a fighting maiden century of a run a ball 101 decked with 11 boundaries and 2 sixes as the hosts were propelled to the 236 target by a whirlwind knocks by Tanzid Hasan, substituting for the concussed Soumya Sarkar struck 84 off 81 with 9 boundaries, and a lower order Player of the Match unbeaten charge of 48 off 18 by Rishad Hossain topped by 5 boundaries and 4 over the top in fronting the last 58 off 13.5 overs yesterday at the Zahur Ahmd Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.

Sri Lanka’s decision to bat on the toss misfired with the cream of the top order caving in with Pathum Nissanka 1, Avishka Fernando 4 and Sadeera Samarawickrama 14, with the pronounced failure of the last two on tour more so the usually reliable Samarawickrama costing Sri Lanka the series. The next best contribution was Charith Asalanka’s 37.

Lahiru Kumara did well to claim 4 wickets for 48 off 8 overs while key bowler Wanindu Hasaranga was taken to the cleaners by Bangladesh by an expensive 64 runs for his 2 wickets off 9 overs.
