New appointments at HPC | Anusha Samaranayake As National Fast Bowling Coach

Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce the following appointments made to the High Performance Center. The appointments were approved by the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Anusha Samaranayake, National Fast Bowling Coach

Anusha Samaranayake, a Level 3 qualified coach, worked as the ‘National Fast Bowling Coach’ of Sri Lanka Cricket from 2008 to 2015. A former first-class cricketer, he was part of Sri Lanka’s first test tour to England in 1984. Samaranayake assumed duties on March 6 for a period of two years and will focus on the ‘Fast Bowling’ aspect of all the national teams.

Dr. Hashan Amarathunga – Sports Performance Nutritionist

Dr. Hashan Amarathunga, before joining Sri Lanka Cricket as the Sports Performance Nutritionist, was serving as the Senior Registrar in Clinical Nutrition of the National Hospital
Colombo.

He, who holds a ‘MD in Clinical Nutrition’ from the University of Colombo, has been working with the national team as the ‘Team Sports Nutrition Physician,’ before taking over the latest position on a full-time basis. Amaratunga holds a Diploma in Sports Nutrition offered by the International Olympic Committee and has worked with the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Hockey Team, among several other sports-related assignments. Appointed on February 6th for a period of one year, he will focus on the nutritional aspects of the national teams, starting from the U19 level.

Jonathan Porter – Physiotherapist

Jonathan Porter, before joining Sri Lanka Cricket, served as the physiotherapist of the Australian Men’s Cricket Team, focusing on its white-ball tours in Australia, India, and South Africa.
