Galle’s Pasindu Sooriyabandara tops NSL batting, and Kandy’s Wanuja Sahan the bowling

Pasindu Sooriyabandara of Galle currently heads the 2023-24 National Super League 4-Day Tournament batting table aggregating 774 runs from 12 innings while Ahan Wickramasinghe of Kandy is second with the same number of runs but from 15 innings with Dambulla’s Pavan Rathnayake third with 684 runs from 14 innings.

Sooriyabandara has averaged 70.36 scoring two centuries and 5 half centuries with a highest score of 242 strike rate of 67.18 while Wickramasinghe has averaged 57.23 with 2 tons and 5 half tons with highest score of 149 in a strike rate of 77.50. Rathnayake, averaging 52.61 hit two centuries and a similar number of  half centuries with a highest of 240 and strike rate of 57.96.

Meanwhile, Kandy’s Wanuja Sahan heads the bowling with 34 wickets from 11 innings with a best of 6 for 70 followed by Rusanda Sanjula Gamage of Colombo with 26 wickets from 12 innings and best of 6 for 67, and Kurukulasooriya Nishan Peiris of Galle third with 24 wickets from 8 innings with best of 6 for 47.

The tournament finals between Kandy and Galle is scheduled to be played from April 30 to May 3 at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium.
