NATIONAL SUPER LEAGUE FINAL

Kandy, put into bat, made 279 for 8 wickets against Galle on the opening day of the 4-day National Super League final yesterday with wicket-keeper batsman Sithara Gimhan top scoring with 90 off 184 balls and opening batsman Sahan Kosala 84 off 114 balls at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Sithara Gimhan, who captained Kandy in place of regular skipper Niroshan Dickwella drafted for T20 duty, typically led from the front in setting up a formidable score.

Galle’s Asanka Manoj had fine figures of 3 for 28 while Thilanga Udeshana and skipper Ramesh Mendis claimed two wickets each.
