BRC beats Police SC by 5 runs despite 5/18 burst by Himesh Ramanayake

Burgher Recreation Club (BRC) pulled off a close 5-run win over Police Sports Club in their Sri Lanka Cricket Limited Overs Major League Tournament match in  staving off a fine 5 wicket haul for 18 runs by Himesh Ramanayake at the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Put into bat, BRC posted 154 in 44.1 overs with Dilshan de Soysa top scoring with 71 off 110 balls hitting a boundary and a six.

Police SC, set 140 to win from 28 overs on the revised D/L following inclement weather, finished on 134 for 9 with only Nadeera Balasooriya 51 and Vishad Randika 46 among the runs, with the rest failing to reach double figures.

Chaminda Bandara had fine figures of 4 for 16 for BRC while Dulaj Ashen claimed 2 for 6 and Movin Subasinghe 2 for 21.

NUGEGODA SWC VS Kurunegala YCC NO RESULT

Meanwhile, the Nugegoda Sports Welfare Club versus Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club fixture ended in a no result due to inclement weather at the De Zoysa Stadium, Moratuwa.

Nugegoda SWC were 84 for 2 wickets in 21 overs with Dilan Jayalath unbeaten on 41 off 69 balls hitting 4 boundaries while skipper Tillakaratne Sampath made 22 off 32 with 3 boundaries in adding 45 for the first wicket.
