NCC enjoyed a stroll in the park 8-wicket triumph over Bloomfield in the finals to emerging champions of the Sri Lanka Cricket Major Clubs T20 Tournament at the P. Saravanamuththu International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Bloomfield, put in to bat, was skittled out for 54 in 10.1 overs as NCC roler coasted to the target in just 5.5 overs to finish on 55 for 2.
Leg spinner Lasith Embuldeniya taking Player of the Match figures of 3 for 5 while pacemen Chamika Karunaratne and Matheesha Pathirana claimed 2 wickets apiece.
NCC’s skipper Niroshan Dickwella, overlooked by the national selectors for the recent T20 world cup, however, reached a champagne high to the trophy glitter remaining unbeaten with a run a ball 15 hitting 3 boundaries to voicing his glee post-match that he had raised his batting form in recent outings and that NCC had worked hard to hit the top.
Pathum Nissanka made 18 off 10 hitting 3 boundaries and a six and Kamil Mishara on 11.
Ravindu Fernando took both wickets to fall at a cost of 25 runs.
NCC all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne was Player of the Series.
Colts CCs Akila Dananjaya of Colts CC and Ace Capital CCs Pawantha Weerasingha were adjudged the tournament’s Best Bowler and Best Batsman respectively.
