Colombo Strikers hit the winning trail again by a comprehensive 7-wicket win over Galle Marvels at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium to staying on course for the Lank Premier League jackpot stakes in coming out of the early slumber of just two wins following back to back triumphs in the third phase Colombo slog out for the trophy glitter.
Significantly led by Thisara Perera, the star who led Jaffna Kings to three-times champions, who has ably marshalled his team from a thin edge into the reckoning, his gamble in putting Galle Marvels to bat first paid off in a 138 decimation of their opponents with left-arm pacer Matheesha Pathirana returning the remarkable figures of 4 for 20.
Colombo Strikers were quick to the road to victory in the twosome of Muhammad Waseem stroking 50 off 44 inclusive of 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, and Glenn Phillips a run a ball unbeaten 31 with a six in a cornerstone 109 for the third-wicket off 52 balls in taking over from upfront Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 23 off 17 with 4 boundaries had lifted the score from 14 for 1 to 60 for 2 after 5.5.
Phillips held anchor together with Sadeera Samarawickrama on 15 off 12 with 2 boundaries in that triumph. Tim Seifert 44 off 38 with 3 boundaries and 2 sixes and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, a dynamo 35 off 15 upped by 4 over the top and a boundary weren’t supplementary to Galle’s cause with the rest caving in tht debacle.
