Kandy performed admirably pulling off back to back wins over Colombo North by 14 runs, and Galle by 3 wickets in the Sri Lanka Cricket-Prima Under-15 Sri Lanka Youth League 2024 yesterday at the Mercantile Cricket Association Grounds.
Kandy scored 147 in 50 overs and dismissed Colombo North for 133 in 35.1 overs.
Kandy’s top scorer was Yenula Hewavitharana who notched 50 off 103 balls hitting 3 boundaries in a composed innings.
Colombo North’s Shamma Jonathan returned fine figures of 4 for 28.
Colombo North’s Binod Sandil struck a stroke filled 67 off 63 balls hoisting 4 sixes and 3 boundaries, but his effort alone could not get his side through.
In their other game against Galle, Kandy batting first was restricted to 74 for 7 with Malshan Vimukthi picking up 3 wickets for 15 runs for Galle.
However, Galle crumbled for 73 in 20.4 overs in the low scoring contest dominated by bowlers with Kandy’s Kusal Bandara claiming 4 wickets for 11 runs.
