Sri Lanka defeat Oman and Bangladesh to top Pool D at Hong Kong Sixes

Sandun Weerakkody struck a cameo 28 off 7 balls, including 4 sixes and Lahiru Samarakoon 20 off 6 as Sri Lanka defeated Oman by 4 wickets in their first fixture to topping Pool D of the Hong Kong Sixes yesterday in Hong Kong.

The Lankans sped to 82 for 2 off 4.1 overs in overhauling a game Oman’s 8 for 2 in 6 overs. Thanuka Dabare’s 18 off 7 and skipper Lahiru Madushanka’s 15 off 5 joined in the run chase.

In the following game, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 18 runs having run up 107 for 3 in six overs with skipper Madushanka in top gear hammering 48 off 17, including five sixes and three fours. Thanuka Dabare made 32 off 12, while Sandun Weerakkody smashed 18 off 6.

Bangladesh was restricted to 89 for 3 with Lahiru Samarakoon claiming 2 for 26 in 2 overs.
