The third ODI between Sri Lanka and New Zealand ended in a stalemate rain off with a granite 112 for 1 wicket take off after 21 overs by the visitors on a placid track for batting that carried the promise of a ding dong battle between the two sides at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium thus evaporated that denied the Kiwis the chance of a consolation win leaving Sri Lanka winners by two straight wins.
New Zealand’s decision to bat first on winning the toss had the early setback losing Tom Robinson for 9 with the score 24 after 3.2 overs before William Young and Henry Nicholas notched half centuries of 63 and 50 to a battle on the cards when the rains intervened.
