Colombo South simply swept to the Sri Lanka Cricket-Prima U15 Youth League title in a one sided 149-run hammering of Kandy in the finals running up 214 for 9 wickets in 49 overs and bundling out Kandy for 65 on a Player of the Final 5 for 21 wrecking by Chanuth Kankanamge.
Colombo South’s other chief run getters were Tharaka Samintha unbeaten on 32 and Adeesha Lakshan 24. Reshan Solomons did the bulk of Colombo South’s scoring with 77 off 99 balls hitting 11 boundaries to ending the title hurrah with the Best Batsman award.
Kandy’s wicket takers were Sanithu Gunathilake 3 for 29 and C. Kodithuwakku 2 for 44.
Kandy’s Kodithuwakku went out on a losing valiant note being the only batter in the side to come good with the bat with close to half the total scoring 36 hitting 3 boundaries and 2 sixes.
The Player of the Tournament was Colombo South’s Dushan Uduwela while Dambulla’s Yanul Egodage took the Best Bowler’s award.
SLC officials Chinthaka Editimanne, Samantha Dodanwala and Suresh Bulankilama were joined by Sajith Gunaratne, General Manager, Ceylon Agro Industries Ltd, Prima Group Sri Lanka in giving away the awards.
