NCC did not go for a win on their home grounds against Kurunegela YCC despite a follow on lead of 322 having bowled out their opponents for 182 in opting for batting practice second innings score of 285 in settling for a draw with Kurunegela YCC 64 for 1 wicket in the second innings with having made it to the finals though the wisdom of such a decision in not cleaning it up was a conjuring factor.
Their second innings run getters were Kmil Mishara 53 in a fine follow up of his first innings century, Ashian Daniel 50 and Lahiru Kumara 31 while Kurunegela’s Kavika Dilshan collected a 6 wicket haul for 103 runs.
Kurunegela YCCs Dilhara Polgampola was unbeaten on 36 in their second innings with NCCs wicket keeper Niroshan Dickwella stepping in for a bowl claiming the wicket of Lahiru Udara bowling him for 17.
The game between CCC and BRC as well ended the same way with the home team not driving their first innings 229 lead having dismissed their opponents for 249, in opting for batting practice to running up 356 for 8 declared with opening batsman Lasith Croospulle striking a brilliant 102-ball 163 powered by 10 sixes and 14 boundaries in following up his first innings half century. Other chief run getters were Pavan Rathnayake 70, Chamindu Wijesinghe 35 and Dhananjaya de Silva 27.
Malinda Pushpakumara did well to claim 5 wickets for 85 runs for BRC.
Meanwhile, Negombo CC made 244 for 9 wickets in their Major League match which commenced yesttterday against Badureliya SC which commenced on Sunday at the Galle International Stadium with Promod Maduwantha unbeaten on 61 off 107 balls inclusive of 4 boundaries with Himasha Liyanage making 29 and Pasindu Lakshanka 28.
