Nugegoda SCs Roshan Wijenayake rare double century-century twin ton feat

Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club’s Roshan Wijenayake took the honours in style in last week’s Sri Lanka Cricket Major League fixtures by indeed a herculean unbeaten double century-century grand twin century performances with the bat following up his unbeaten 201 with 105 in the second innings inclusive of 8 boundaries and a six in their drawn encounter with BRC at the Moratuwa De Zoysa Stadium.

Taking strike in the pivotal No. 3 slot,his double century came off 330 balls containing 14 boundaries and 2 sixes while he followed it up with 8 boundaries and a six in his second innings 144-bll twin century brilliance.

Roshan’s double century came in a first innings total of 401 for 9 declared and in a second innings score of 261 for 3 declared with T.M. Sampath too coming good hitting 92 following his first innings 77.

BRC were dismissed for 200 with Dilshan De Zoysa and Dulash Udayanga striking half centuries, and were 51 for 4 at stumps in their second innings.

Meanwhile, SSCs Sasindu Malshan 108 off 189 balls hitting 10 boundaries and a six, and NCCs Kamil Mishara whose 105 off 133 balls contained 11 boundaries and a six did in the duo from opposite camps topping the three figure groove in their drawn match at the NCC grounds.

Also significant was Negombo CC’s off spinner Nishan Peiris’ 11-wicket match haul in defeating Badureliya SC at the FTZ Complex, Katunayake for their second tournament success.
