NCC took box seat honours on the second day of the SLC Major League cruising to the finals of the mega tournament amassing 504 from an overnight 410 for 4 as skipper Sahan Arachchige added a further 16 to yesterday’s 151 off 246 balls with 9 boundaries and 2 sixes in his bowlers Asel Sigera 5 for 47 and Lahiru Kumara 3 for 21 chiefly running through Kurunegela YCC for 182 in just 37.4 overs at the Weagedera Stadium, Kurunegela.
NCC had scored 45 for 2 wickets at stumps.
Tamil Union C&AC routed Nugegoda SWC by an innings and 126 runs with a day to spare in bundling out their opponents for 179 following on with Tharindu Rathnayake claiming 5 for 68 for a match haul of 7 wickets having run up 395 with Sandun Weerakkody, who top scored with 128 off 88 balls retiring hurt, failing to add to his overnight score.
Moors SC too enjoyed a stroll in the park innings and 15-run win over Kandy Customs CC at Police Park yesterday with Malsha Tharupathi picking up 4 for 25 and skipper Ramesh Mendis, the Sri Lanka ODI cap starring in an all-round show claiming 4 for 72 in bundling out Kandy Customs for 162 in the second essay for a match haul of 7 for 105 to go with a fine 81-ball 54 inclusive of 4 boundaries and a six in a total of 331 highlighted by opening batsman Janishka Pereeera’s 101 at Police Park Grounds.
